Participants

We get many emails from participants telling us their stories about bad (and sometimes good!) race experiences and want advice and help on how to tackle this and improve race experiences for women going forwards.

We want to empower women to advocate for themselves and to approach race organisers to share their valuable experiences. Organisers don't know what's wrong with their races if we don't tell them. But we also know that this isn't always made easy, so we've put together a selection of resources to enable you to get in touch with race organisers, explain your experiences and educate them on how they can do better in future events.

Together we can change the face of racing and make all races fair and inclusive for women. We can't fight this battle alone and we need your help to reach out to events and steer them in the right direction.

What to expect from a race

As a participant, there are certain things that should be standard at any event to ensure that women have a fair and equal experience to men. This visual breaks down the key elements we would expect to see in an inclusive race.

Fundraise for us

SheRACES can only do what it does with enough resources, which means raising funds. We can accept one-off donations at any time (thank you!) and we'd also love you to consider fundraising for us at your next event.

Organisers

We know that most race organisers want to create events that are inclusive and consider the women's experience alongside the men's. Here at SheRACES we want to create a world where we're no longer needed, where all events consider inclusion from start to finish.

If you're a race director and want advice and support to make meaningful changes to your events and ensure that women feel included and able to have a fair chance to compete, we have put together these resources, which are freely available, to enable you to build inclusive and considerate race experiences.

Key race guidelines

Any race can download our race guidance for free and implement it. In fact, we hope every race does this one day as standard! Events can also choose to become accredited by SheRACES to support our work and to highlight their commitment to being an inclusive race.

This guide outlines what events should do to ensure female inclusion, including a detailed look at our guidelines as well as key statistics to understand the importance of implementing them.

Commercial benefits

Making races inclusive to women is the right thing to do. But it also pays – we worked with Threshold Sports on a white paper to prove that it makes commercial sense to include women at all levels.
